The first ever World Cinema Film Festival 2018

Bluebird Pictures is hosting their first ever film festival in Barking and Dagenham where we are based, to celebrate culture and diversity in the East London borough.

Open to all, but with a special discount for Barking and Dagenham residents we are looking for short films or documentaries under 20 minutes that depict ‘culture’. This is to celebrate the many different types of people that reside in our thriving part of London, where an amazing 137 different languages are spoken.

Culture could mean many things, whether this is your favourite genre of music, a traditional custom from your country, or growing up in London. Get creative with what culture means to you. The TV and film industry needs YOUR stories.

Bluebird Pictures will be hosting an array of masterclasses and workshops in the borough on the build up to the festival on the 16th June to help you create your movies and connect with other filmmakers. This will all be released on our Twitter Instagram and website and they will be taking place at least once a month from February.

We will be releasing the lineup for the 16th June in due course.

The festival will be held on the 16th June at The Barking Broadway Theatre, just a 5 minute walk from Barking station, where we held our women in TV and Film event. The day will consist of several screenings of critically acclaimed short films from around the world that represent the different cultures in the area. We will also have guest speakers, including industry professionals and filmmakers, as well as an opportunity to feast on local cuisine from local businesses. A summer festival atmosphere that will allow attendees to pick and choose which talks and screenings they attend, while networking with other creatives and trying out new food and drink. At the end of the festival we will have an award ceremony for our winners!
